Our pastor

Rev. Dr. Ethyel C. Coleman
Reverend Coleman was born in Danville, VA and is married to his high school sweetheart, Rev. Dr. Geneva P. Coleman. His early Christian education was at Wesley Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church of Danville where he accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior.

After moving to Powhatan, VA, he joined Guildfield Baptist Church and was ordained as a deacon on October 23, 1994. He was elected chairman of the diaconate ministry in September of 2000 and was actively involved in the church by singing on two of the choirs (serving as  president of one), and teaching Sunday school, new members classes, men’s fellowship sessions and the Teens/Parents Bible Study.

Pastor Coleman attended Faith International Bible College in Richmond, VA where he received his Doctorate in Theology. He became a teacher at the bible college soon after receiving his Master's degree. Pastor Coleman is currently the college's president and is still teaching.

He was called into ministry on October 2007 and was ordained to preach the word in March of 2010.

His father always encouraged him to "put his trust in God and not man and then watch things happen."

Our first lady

Rev. Dr. Geneva P. Coleman
Reverend Coleman is a native of Danville, VA and is married to her high school sweetheart, Rev. Dr. Ethyel C. Coleman, Pastor of Bethlehem Baptist Church. She enjoys writing poetry, public speaking, conducting presentations and workshops, and most of all, preaching the word of God.

She was involved in several ministries while attending Guildfield Baptist Church that included serving on the diaconate ministry and serving as director for the Youth Choir. She also sung on several other choirs and created the Women’s Ministry.

Her spirit of involvement has carried over to her service at Bethlehem, where she founded the Women’s Book Club, is a member of the Women’s Ministry, and directs the ECC gospel choir. Rev. Coleman also created the Feed the Hungry program and preaches every fifth Sunday.

She received her Doctorate from Faith International Bible College and is still actively involved behind the scenes at the college.

She states that God has given her a spirit of boldness that is guided by the Holy Spirit, and integrity rates high on her scale. Her mother used to tell her, “Be a person of your word – can I count on you?”
